Climate

Central North Carolina has a  four-season climate, with cool winters and hot summers. Be prepared for average  daytime temperatures of about 85 degrees in the summer, and about 45 degrees in  the winter. Afternoon thunderstorms often occur in the summer.

Overnight accommodations at the Ronald McDonald House are  provided to parents and family of children who are patients of Duke Hospital. The fee for this service is based upon need. The Ronald McDonald House  offers free parking and transportation to and from Duke Hospital and Clinic.  Please call (919) 694-6136 for more  information.

Caring House
Overnight accommodations at  Caring House are available for adult patients receiving outpatient treatment at  the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. Caring House offers free parking and  transportation to and from Duke Hospital and Clinic, as well as many other  amenities. A nominal need-based fee is charged for this housing. Host  Homes
The Host Homes program is sponsored by Duke Pastoral Services  and can assist with lodging in private homes. A nominal need-based fee is  charged for this housing. For more information, please call (919) 684-5351 Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until noon or  1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. (summer hours are Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m.  until 4:30 p.m.).
